| Name: | Justin Finch-Fletchley | |||||||||
| Bio: | Character Information Name of character you are applying for: Justin Henry Christopher Finch-Fletchley (a mouthful, no?) Age of character you are applying for(physical age, if one of the resurrected): 21 Birthday: October 20, 1979 PB: Dustin Milligan Wand: 11", Birch, Unicorn Hair House at Hogwarts: Hufflepuff Family Parents: Christopher Edward Henry& Jane Katherine Finch-Fletchley Siblings: Alexandra Jane Elizabeth (Alex), Abigail Louise Katherine (Abbie) Family interactions (how does your character get along with his/her family members?): Prior to his Hogwarts years, Justin was very close to his family, particularly his father. However, the less and less time he has had in recent years to actually do so has caused their closeness to drift a bit, however a great fondness for each other still remains. Jane Finch-Fletchley is a chronic worrier and persistently questions her son about his job, his life, and the wizarding world, of which she has never quite fully gained trust of. Alexandra and Justin are pretty agreeable when they actually get to see each other. The eldest Finch-Fletchley is a secretary for a technology (cell phones) producer in London. Abigail, while somewhat less close to Justin, is taking in her university experience in a less prestigious college than her sister's Cambridge alma mater, at the University of Exeter. While Justin loves his family he has had a lot of difficulties tying in his Muggle life and his Wizarding life, and this sometimes shows through in his family interactions. Occupation: Healer-In-Training Residence: flat Hammersmith, London, England, UK Financial status: Wealthy Political views: D.A. Member, supporter of Harry from 5th year onward, fought on the winning side; feels positively about Integration, and is icked by the undead returning. Blood Status: Muggleborn Sexuality: Heterosexual Physical description Height: 6'1" Weight: 180 lbs. Distinguishing marks: curly hair, big smile Give us a description of your character's appearance: Justin was of average height for a boy of his age, until he reached the age fifteen, in which he seemed to gain an inch every month, until he reached his full height of tall 6'1". His hair has always been curly and light brown, whether he kept it longer or short, the curls were inescapable. Justin also possesses a strong jawline, bright blue eyes, and a broad smile. He received a small scar in the battle, on the inside of his thigh just above his knee. Mainly Justin dresses in Muggle clothing, all if it is very nice, but it ranges from formal to casual pretty well. He owns many of the vivid acid green sets of robes that are required to work in St. Mungos. Otherwise his robe collection is very limited. Give us a description of your character's personality (for example, are they a confident person? Do they speak their mind? What are their flaws and good points? We want to know that you have a good understanding of your character, so feel free to use examples and make it as in depth as possible): As a child, Justin was the one that wouldn't shut up. He had always found verbal communication as his best form, one reason he found essays so frustrating during his Hogwart years. This combined with the inner desire (or is it need) to be well-liked has caused Justin to first and foremost be a people person. Friendly almost to a fault and willing to talk to almost anyone allowed Justin to become extremely close to many of his class mates. This is a very useful skill in his line of work in which he often has to make the patients gain a sense of calm and rapport. The fact that many people in the wizarding world may not like him for something that he can not help really bothers Justin. Justin is opinionated, but not unmovably so. He likes to work through his thoughts and figure out his opinions on a topic by weighing things in, whether it be personally in his mind, or out loud with a group. He is a reasonably confident person, but always seems to hesitate, or second guess himself, before for finally moving on doing or saying what he was thinking. However, in instances where he isn't allowed to think through things, Justin is prone to jumping to conclusions. With friends, Justin is staunchly loyal, whether they are right or wrong, but he likes to think that his friends area always in the right. For everyone else, he's willing to think it over and give them the benefit of doubt. Basically, he doesn't have perfect judgment, but it isn't for lack of trying. As far as his moods, he's a generally agreeable sort, but in those times in which his mood isn't pleasant he has a different arrange of emotions. Personal rejection is more likely to result in a silent type of anger, which may later result in a rant either to the party he is angry at or a possibly understanding friend. He doesn't like to deal with his sadness unless he is alone, or on a long walk with some form of music pumping into his ears. Hufflepuffian traits are found in Justin through his loyalty, judgement, and sometimes his hard-work. He can sometimes be sloth like, unless it is something that he thinks is important or is significant to him. History Justin Finch-Fletchley was born on October 20, 1979 to Christopher and Jane Finch-Fletchley. Justin is the second child and first son of the Finch-Fletchleys, he has an older sister Alex (Alexandra) (b. 1977) and a younger sister Abbie (Abigail) (b. 1982). The Finch-Fletchleys are a rather well-to-do family in the Muggle world. The family's income comes from inheritance and his father's work as a barrister. They've moved in upper class circles since the beginning of Justin's memory, and he is no stranger to social graces (or at least the appearance of having them.) The Finch-Fletchleys began having a very comfortable lifestyle in Kent, England. The Finch-Fletchleys had everything planned for the education of their children, Alexandra was attending Wycombe Abbey and hopefully in coming years Abigail would follow her, and their only son was set to go to Eton when Justin received his Hogwarts letter. It was quite a shock when the Finch-Fletchleys were visited by Minerva McGonagall, and it took a second visit for the family to actually take this magic business seriously. Christopher and Jane's skepticism was finally beaten by Justin's enthusiasm and excitement over studying magic, and they set out to make sure that he had everything to prepare him for his trip to Scotland in the fall. For Justin magic explained a lot of things-- for instance the countless times the football had gone into the goal after stopping then travelling the rest of the field's length to do so. A common event that had many of his mates believing that he was going to be a future football star. Or even the times that the horrid ties that his mother made him wear disappeared only to be found later when they were no longer of any use. So Justin, nervous, but excited got on the Hogwart's express for the first time in 1991. Justin was sorted into Hufflepuff House, and despite being teased often for being the house of 'duffers', he never regretted his sorting. Like many, Justin believed that his house was the best house, and this was only proved by the fact that they upheld the best ideals and had some of the best people. Justin quickly became friends with the others in his House and Year, especially Ernie MacMillan, a pureblood, which Justin was amazed to find meant that all of his family had been wizards for ages, Susan Bones, and Hannah Abbott. The first year was such an eye-opening one for the naive eleven year old. Discovering this new world, that was just as rich as the one that he had come from truly captivated him, as did his place in the world, and all of the people. If Justin has been anything since the beginning of his Hogwarts years, it's a people person. Justin's second year almost had him not coming back for a third year, for multiple reasons. The mystery of the Chamber of Secrets led Justin Finch-Fletchley to be one of the first people petrified by the Basilisk. After suspicion towards Harry Potter from the Dueling Club, many of Justin's friends believed him to be behind Justin's attack, something Justin likely would have believed as well. After Justin was restored by Mandrake all anti-Harry feelings seemed to subside. That summer Justin had the grueling task of explaining to his parents exactly why it was alright for him to return to Hogwarts in the fall. It took an entire six weeks of protesting, but Justin did indeed return. Although many of the events through the following years caused much stir amongst the Hufflepuffs, whether it be about Sirius Black, or Harry Potter trying to steal Cedric's glory, or who in the bloody hell they were going to ask to the Ball (of which Justin chickened out in asking Susan and ended up taking a younger Hufflepuff), Justin found himself in a definite stride in his classes and in his social group. Never being particularly athletic, he became an avid Quidditch fan and supporter, even more so than football, but he never played. He joined a few groups, Dumbledore's Army being most notable, but most of his extra attention was given to his friendships, and occassionally his studies. He became more focused when he began his N.E.W.T. level studies. Although his father had pressed him to go into some sort of legal profession in the wizarding world, Justin decided he wanted to be a Healer, and began working diligently to this goal in his sixth year. The wizarding world slowly was becoming second nature to Justin, when suddenly he was taken out of it. Dumbledore's death and the fall of Scrimgeour led to one of the most dangerous atmospheres for Muggleborns to be. So Justin explained to his parents that at the current time he couldn't go back to school and it would be dangerous for his family if he stayed home. Justin headed for Greece, where he stayed for a few months, next going to Italy, and ending up in France around the end of what would have been his 7th year of school. Every couple of months Justin would return to check on his family, and usually had messages there from friends. Justin kept up with the spells that Harry had taught him in the previous years and occassionally looked over his spell books, mostly to occupy his mind and pass the time. He was alerted that Hogwarts was under seige in May during a visit to his family for Abigail's birthday, Justin was pulled by loyalty and helped alongside his friends defend the school. Justin did well enough in school through hard work, and he elected to take his final year after the war was over. He moved to a London flat in the Fulham area. Justin currently is in his second year of Healer training. He feels surprisingly more at home in the wizarding world than the Muggle one, but is very excited about the current plans for Integration. It would certainly solve a lot of his problems. Despite this, he thinks he might prefer magical women, as his last relationship with one of his sister's friends from school, Gemma Price, ended rather horribly, mostly because he had to hide the fact that he was magical. Justin finds a lot of difficulty going back and forth from the Muggle & magical worlds, because he has to hide magic from all that aren't in his family, and when he is not in the Muggle world he misses out often on what is going on there. His current work is rather rigorous and keeps him from visiting home very often. It has caused a small rift between his family and himself, but nothing larger than awkward silences on Sunday dinners on occasion. Besides work and relationships, there are a few hobbies that occupy Justin's time. He did play piano at home, but in his flat has found that the guitar is more practical, and he is slowly working to not sound like total crap at it. He likes both Muggle and wizarding fiction. He keeps up with Quidditch (Pride of Portree & Wimbourne Wasps) and football (Chelsea) alike. He does try to maintain a balance, although he has to admit Honeydukes far surpasses any candymaker in Muggle Britain, he has a particular fondness for Pepper Imps and Chocolate Frogs. He'd like to own a dog one day, but just hasn't quite gotten around to doing so. | |||||||||
